Orpiment, yellow arsenic sulfide (As2S3), is one of the oldest yellow pigments — used in Egyptian and Chinese paintings. It forms laminated masses of brilliant lemon yellow. Often paired with red realgar. Its name comes from Latin 'auripigmentum' (gold pigment). Pure arsenic.
